Client: Dura Vermeer for the Municipality of Leiden
The project consists of manufacturing and installing 5 bridges over various waterways. The names of the relevant bridges are:
Bridge 1 Wisennia / Blekerspoort Length 30.1 m
Bridge 2 Helar / Flour mill Length 12.3 m
Bridge 3 Hapynion / Veerplein Length 25.7 m Arch bridge
Bridge 4 Aeldis / Arsenal Length 9.5 m
Bridge 5 Binnenoostsingel Length 12.1 m
With the exception of the Binnenoostsingel bridge, all bridges are made of non-preserved weather-proof steel and a high-quality stainless steel pressure arc (fluid strength 360 mPa).
The decks are filled with vowels and waterproofed. The handrails consist of strips of 25 mm thick and approx. 120 mm wide. The ø40 mm pressure arch goes through a wide opening in the handrail posts. The coupling of the handrails with the pressure bow is guaranteed by suitable stainless steel pins. The pins are glued in the handrails and the pressure arch. Between the handrails are the defining ø100 mm stainless steel spheres.
The Hapynion bridge is an arch bridge. The bridge has two support systems. The bridge is partly supported by pressure arch with lower edge action and partly by confinement in the foundations.
